Building Marketing Systems Around The Business You Want To Become
When clients approach me, they’ve already built a successful business; they have an excellent offer, a great reputation and created growth through recommendations, relationships and years of personal effort.
The problem is that eventually, that way of growing hits a ceiling. The founder is still responsible for chasing the next opportunity. Marketing is something that gets done when there’s time, rather than something that could be working for them in the background.
That’s where I come in. I look at the customer journey as a whole and ask “What would need to change for this business to become easier to choose, easier to find and less dependent on its owners continually creating the next opportunity?”
Then I build the marketing around the answer.
Transformation Stories From Businesses I’ve Worked With
From An Underused £500K Facility To 4× More Bookings
A sports club was struggling to justify a £500K investment in a new facility due to low bookings. After working together, I built a high converting website, changed the messaging and funnelled traffic to the website through ads. Within a year, bookings had quadrupled and the sports club are now planning to build another facility.
Turning The Quietest Trading Period Into A Record Sales Month
A café and online shop wanted to boost their revenue over their quiet period at Christmas. After re-designing their website with a clearer checkout flow, optimising product listings and running email campaign sequences, that November, I set a new record breaking sales month for the business.
From Chasing Stockists To Inbound Trade Enquiries
One of my F&D clients was caught in a cycle of manually chasing leads for their business and struggling to get clients to pay the premium price for their product. After working together, I built a CRM with automatic, personalised messaging, shared stockist success stories on social media and re-positioned the brand as an expert in its industry. After six months, prospective stockists were approaching the business directly and sales conversations had become significantly easier.
Author & Creator Of The Restaurant Marketing Blueprint
My approach to marketing has also shaped The Restaurant Marketing Blueprint – an eight step framework I created for independent restaurants wanting to build a more predictable system for attracting and retaining customers.
It explores the entire customer journey, from the moment somebody first discovers a restaurant to the reasons they return, recommend it and become a loyal customer.
Each step uses real life examples of where it’s worked successfully, as well as where restaurants commonly lose customers and what can be changed to make a stronger customer experience.
About My Approach
I’ve never been interested in marketing for marketing’s sake, I’m interested in understanding why one business becomes the obvious choice while another business, with an equally good product feels indifferent.
My work rarely begins with “what should we post on social media?”, it always starts with the business. What kind of brand are you trying to create? What kind of customers or clients do you want to work with? What value are those customers or clients getting from your offer? And what needs to happen between first discovering you and becoming a loyal customer?
Once those answers are clear, the customer journey becomes much easier to design and implement.
